Drone Inspection & Aerial Photography FAQ

Answers about drone roof inspections, construction aerials, and progress flights across the Rogue Valley and Southern Oregon.

General

Are you licensed to fly commercially?

Yes. Our pilots are FAA Part 107 certified remote pilots, the federal certification required to fly drones for paid work in the United States.

What areas do you serve?

The Rogue Valley and Southern Oregon, including Medford, Grants Pass, Ashland, Central Point, Eagle Point, Jacksonville, Cave Junction, and the surrounding communities. See the service areas page. If your site is farther out, just ask.

How do you price jobs?

Every job is quoted individually based on location, site size, and the deliverables you need. Send a few details through the contact form or call, and we'll put together a quote.

Are you insured?

Yes, Summit Visuals is insured; certificate of insurance available on request.

What information do you need to quote a job?

The address or location, what you want captured, any deadlines, and how you plan to use the images (report, marketing, records, etc.).

Roof Inspections

Does someone need to be home for a drone roof inspection?

Not always. We need permission to fly over the property and safe access to a launch spot nearby. We'll confirm details when scheduling.

What kinds of roofs can you inspect?

Drones work well on most residential and commercial roofs, including composition shingle, metal, tile, and low-slope roofs, and are especially helpful on steep or hard-to-reach roofs.

What do you deliver after a roof inspection?

Typically a set of high-resolution photos covering each roof plane, close-ups of areas of concern, and overview shots. Video can be added. Ask about extra formats like annotated images if you need them for a report.

Is a drone inspection a replacement for a roofer or adjuster?

No. We capture clear imagery; a qualified roofer, inspector, or adjuster should interpret it and make repair or claim decisions. The images make their job safer and easier.

Can you document damage after a storm?

Yes. Getting dated imagery soon after a wind, snow, or storm event helps create a clear record. Contact us as soon as it's safe to fly.

Construction Aerials & Progress

How often should progress flights happen?

It depends on the pace of the project. Weekly, biweekly, monthly, or milestone-based schedules are all options. We'll help you pick a cadence that fits your timeline.

Will each flight match the last one?

That's the goal. We repeat the same viewpoints and altitudes on each visit so images line up for easy before-and-after comparison.

How are files delivered and organized?

Files are delivered digitally through a download link, organized by date so you build a clean archive of the project over time.

Can you make a time-lapse of the whole project?

Yes. Recurring flights can be compiled into a progress video or time-lapse at the end of the project, great for owners, lenders, and marketing.

Do you coordinate with the site superintendent?

Yes. We schedule around active work, check in on arrival, and follow site safety requirements.

Do you provide survey-grade measurements?

Our imagery is for visual documentation and marketing. If your project needs certified survey data, a licensed surveyor should provide it.

Flying & Safety

What if the weather is bad?

Wind, rain, smoke, and low visibility can all ground a flight. Safety comes first, so we'll reschedule with you when conditions improve.

Can you fly near the airport or in controlled airspace?

Some areas near airports, including around Medford's airport, need FAA authorization before flying. We check airspace for every job and request authorization when needed, so allow extra lead time.

Do you fly over people or traffic?

We plan flights to follow FAA rules about flying over people and moving vehicles, and adjust launch spots and flight paths accordingly.
